Call For Abstracts
We invite abstracts on the topic of social dilemmas, in particular, research that informs us about the ways in which people approach and resolve conflicts between self-interest and collective interest. We explicitly invite various scientists working in different disciplines (such as anthropology, environmental science, biology, economics, neuroscience, psychology, political science, and sociology) because social dilemmas are best understood when different fields and disciplines inform each other about their research. We encourage contributions that capture the breadth of social dilemma research, and so we welcome research on closely related topics (such as helping, trust, competition, theory of mind), and games that are closely related to social dilemmas (such as research on dictator games, negotiation games, trust games, coordination games). Last but not least, we encourage empirical contributions that might inform us about how to analyze and resolve some urgent social dilemmas in the real world, such as social dilemmas to related to environmental issues, the economic crisis, or international relations. This website provides more information about social dilemmas:

Although we will consider theoretical papers, we will generally prefer papers that report empirical research. The abstract should include 300 words (max) and should be structured with five headings:
(a) background
(b) aims
(c) method
(d) results, and
(e) conclusion(s)
At the conference we are unlike to schedule poster presentations, but make a distinction between two types of oral presentations:
(a) programmatic research paper: that is, a paper that typically includes more than one study that is part from a program of research (“long paper”);
(b) demonstration paper: that is, a paper that typically includes one study, which reports a novel, thought-provoking finding (“brief paper”).
We will reserve more time for a programmatic research paper (long paper) than for a demonstration paper (brief paper).
Some papers represent programmatic research, part of a series of studies, some of which will be presented at the conference. These presentations typically include more than 1 study. Other papers represent research that is less programmatic in nature, but that tends to demonstrate a thought-provoking point. These presentations typically include one study to demonstrate a novel point.
